A visit to Denmark on the way to Lacoste. I was nearly in shock at the absence of color in the late winter/early spring there. I went on daily long walks and in the evenings made small works on paper, “registrations” of my impressions of the town of Odense. Using watercolor, pastel, graphite, charcoal, I layered and scraped, and started using wax for resistance of those materials and also sometimes mixing it with them – getting effects that sometimes gave the non-colors some silvery reflection, and sometimes dulled them and accentuated their impenetrability. Digital reproduction can not capture these effects at work unfortunately. They only project in time spent face to face.
