Neptune

This Neptune is seen amongst the foaming waves, wind in his wrap like a sail, dolphin accompanying him. The pole he is holding is a working stand-in for his trident, as can be seen in the maquette of it in the darker photos. It was ultimately to be made out of metal.

Neptune was another commission work through Pierrot’s business, intended to sit in an arched niche on the ground floor of a building in Marseille. There were delays in the project, due to building renovations or some such, and I was never clear on the fate of the sculpture.
