Hermès

In the late winter I went to the Vermont Carving Studio for a short residency. I wanted to make another, but different, head of Hermes, for Elaine and Paul. I had thought of the limestone Hermes, made from the head of Ezekiel, as an older Hermes, so I decided to make a younger one. It’s a small marble bust, a smiling Hermes as often depicted, with his winged cap on his head, turning his head eagerly to his next mission of message-bearing.
