The heart can be hard to hear. Circumstances, environment, the character of one’s inner being – the stuff one is made of, can confuse the music of the heart.
The heart of this assemblage is a found, heart-shaped piece of solid ochre. The ribs around it are metal poles with different numbers of holes in them, so that when struck by the heart each one had a unique sound. All sound was softened by the wooden box of solid plaster on top, from which the ribs sprouted. The hook that the heart hung from was free-wheeling and the heart moved with the softest push of wind.
