Transitions Fusain

These charcoal drawings were done in the fall and winter. I spontaneously found a subject and way of working that blended my love of narrative and of pattern.
The freedom of these drawings was a kind of welcome antidote to the ongoing work with The Three Graces, which demanded so much careful, and repetitive, looking, planning, and working. Slowly peeling away the layers of excess stone to reveal the sculpture that you want, is not really for the faint of heart.
