Soleil Vent Acrylic

Experiments made in the studio based on plein air drawings, trying to find a pertinent, unique expression of the memory of the experience. I came to think that the “memory” of the experience is, curiously, only truly found in work done during the experience, yet this was fun to attempt.

Again using forms observed en plein air, but now designing them into a bas-relief sculpture in stone. Made one panel only; would have liked to make three as I had imagined in small sketches. I started working on this stone in the summer in the school quarry, leaning against a vine-covered wall of the quarry .Sam Dalkilic, Steeple Gallery, acquired the piece much later, 1992-3.
