Sketching with pastels I found a balance between loose gesture and controlled line. Using pastels as a multi-function tool: registering images, carving outlines and contours in color. These are all views of the landscape seen again from the Boulangerie, views chosen for formal interest of the shapes – the tapestry of 3-d interest as well as tapestry of colors.
