A first attempt to paint directly on canvas with oils, non-representationally, to register and communicate perceptions of winter landscape at Wellesley. The previous year had been about working representationally from observation, specifically in drawing media. This is a modest exploration of working from memory of observations, and tentative color understanding.
It needs a title to get the point across to others, but each time I have seen it since making it, this picture takes me immediately back to the exact spot where I stood that day and said I will paint this somehow.
